On 12 and 13 October 2024, Oltrepò Pavese will be the protagonist of an unmissable event on the occasion of the FAI Autumn Days, organised by the FAI Delegation and the Oltrepò Pavese Youth Group.

This national initiative of the Fondo Ambiente Italiano, dedicated to the discovery of Italy‘s cultural heritage, offers the opportunity to visit places that are often inaccessible to the public and to explore the historical and artistic riches of our territory. In this year‘s edition, the programme includes two not-to-be-missed appointments in Silvano Pietra and Cervesina, small villages that guard unique treasures.

In Silvano Pietra, an evocative guided tour will lead visitors to discover a village rich in history and art. The starting point will be the Parish Church of Santa Maria and San Pietro, a jewel of Romanesque architecture with three naves.

The itinerary continues towards another symbol of Silvano Pietra, the San Carlo Theatre, the only example of an Art Nouveau theatre in the Oltrepò Pavese area. Built in 1929, this building stands out for its architectural elegance, with a rectangular plan, two side galleries and a loggia on the first floor. The façade, decorated with niches and a large window, makes the theatre a masterpiece of style.

The tour continues with a visit to the Conti Pietra Castle, a fortress dating back to the 14th century. On the occasion of the FAI Days, it will be possible to access parts of the castle usually closed to the public, offering a unique opportunity to explore this ancient manor.

The itinerary concludes with a visit to a characteristic late 19th-century Lombard courtyard, built in neo-Gothic style and richly decorated, and to the Oratory of the Holy Trinity, a small 18th-century Baroque building that retains the charm of ancient religious architecture.

A few kilometres from Silvano Pietra, the municipality of Cervesina will be the scene of a different but equally fascinating experience. Here you will find the Tazio Nuvolari Circuit, the second longest motor racing circuit in Italy after Monza. Named after the famous driver, this facility is not only a venue for car and motorbike races, but also an innovation centre where research and development projects are carried out in collaboration with universities and companies.

On the occasion of the FAI Days, visitors will be able to admire a prototype developed in collaboration with the Milan Polytechnic, a symbol of the area‘s cutting-edge technology. This visit is an opportunity to discover how the world of motor racing intertwines with that of scientific research, helping to make Cervesina a national reference point.

The 2024 FAI Autumn Days in Oltrepò Pavese promise to offer visitors a weekend dedicated to the discovery of hidden treasures and fascinating stories, from ancient churches, castles and theatres to the innovation and speed of the Tazio Nuvolari Circuit. An unmissable opportunity to rediscover the beauty of our territory and to be fascinated by its rich history and its glance towards the future.

All that remains is to mark these dates in your diary and prepare to experience an unforgettable journey in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese.
