Borgo Priolo is preparing to host the first edition of the Festa dell‘Uva (Grape Festival), an event celebrating the grape harvest, wine and the excellence of the territory. On Sunday 29 September 2024, this enchanting location in the Oltrepò Pavese area will become the beating heart of local food and wine traditions, offering visitors an immersive experience of authentic flavours, history and culture.
From the early hours of the morning, Borgo Priolo will be animated by numerous stands of local wine producers who will offer tastings of their fine wines. This will be an unmissable opportunity for wine enthusiasts to discover the area‘s excellent wines, meet the producers and taste the fruits of their labour. In addition to wine, there will be other typical local delicacies such as the famous Brasadè di Staghiglione, honey, fresh fruit and other local products, representing the best of the Oltrepò culinary tradition.
For sports and nature lovers, the event will start at 9.30 a.m. with Borgo di Corsa, a fascinating 11-km route organised by the Oltrepò Trail association. This non-competitive group training is designed for those who wish to discover the Borgo Priolo area in a unique and active way. The route, one-third on asphalt and two-thirds on dirt road, offers striking views and a light challenge with 400 metres of positive height difference. An opportunity to explore the beauty of the local landscape, between challenging climbs and more runnable sections, perfect for runners of all levels.
A very special moment of the day will be offered by the Azienda Agricola Fradè, which at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. will give visitors the chance to transform themselves into winemakers for a day. The Piaggi brothers, owners of the winery, will guide participants on a journey of discovery of the winemaking process, from the grape harvest to its transformation into wine. And, as they used to do in the past, they will also be able to experience the thrill of crushing grapes with their feet in the vats, living an authentic and fun experience reminiscent of traditional wine production methods.
Lunch will be a feast for the palate, with a wide range of street food on offer in the town square. Among the proposals, visitors will be able to enjoy platters of cured meats accompanied by the traditional gnocco fritto from the Azienda Agricola Casa Chiesa, tasty fassona burgers and fries prepared by Da Flaca, delicious ravioli on the road, and the famous Borgo pizza from Pizzeria Pulcinella. A wide variety of flavours reflecting the gastronomic richness of the area will satisfy the tastes of everyone present.
In the afternoon, the village will come alive with numerous cultural activities. A theatrical guided tour will lead visitors through the historic streets of the village, offering an evocative and engaging insight into local history and legends. Enthusiasts of mechanics and agricultural traditions will be able to admire the exhibition of vintage tractors curated by the Gatteo Club, which will take visitors back in time with agricultural machines that have made the history of work in the fields.
To crown it all, there will be a photographic exhibition by the talented Claudio Gambini, who will display shots that capture the essence of the territory and its people. And for music lovers, the afternoon will be marked by the enthralling performances of the Arkana Pipe Band, a group of musicians who, with the use of drums, bagpipes and bombard, will bring an evocative and innovative atmosphere, mixing ancient and modern sounds.
The first edition of the Festa dell‘Uva (Grape Festival) in Borgo Priolo promises to be an event full of emotions, perfect for those who want to experience a day immersed in local traditions, including good food, wine, sport and culture. A unique opportunity to discover the excellence of the Oltrepò Pavese area and spend a different Sunday in a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
