The timeless charm of vintage vehicles returns to Voghera, Sunday 29 September 2024, on the occasion of the National Vintage Vehicle Day, an event that combines the passion for historic motoring with the discovery of the beautiful landscapes of the Oltrepò pavese. The event will take place in the evocative setting of Piazza Duomo, the beating heart of the city, and will involve a varied display of vintage cars and motorbikes that represent a historical and cultural heritage of inestimable value.

The initiative, promoted by the Automotoclub Storico Italiano (A.S.I.), is organised by the Veteran Car Club Carducci of Voghera in collaboration with the federated clubs of Lombardy. This day is not only an opportunity to admire vehicles from the past, but a real dive into the history of Italian motoring.

Starting in the early hours of the morning, visitors will have the opportunity to take a close look at these mechanical marvels, displayed both in Piazza Duomo and in the courtyard of the evocative Palazzo Beltrami, where some Moto Alpino models will enrich the exhibition.

The day‘s programme includes, at 10.30 a.m. at the San Rocco Theatre, a historical-documentary conference organised by the Moto Club Città di Stradella, dedicated to the figure of Pietro Trespidi, entrepreneur and brilliant designer in the motorbike field. Trespidi was a pioneer of the two-wheel industry in Italy, founding three important motorbike brands in Stradella: Moto Trespidi in 1925, Motobici Alpino in 1945 and SIMeS Ardito in 1950. His work left an indelible mark on Oltrepò motoring, culminating in 1968 with the design of the BM engine, which allowed Swedish driver Nilsson to win the world karting title.

One of the most eagerly awaited moments of the day will undoubtedly be the panoramic tour that will start around 11.30 am. A caravan of vintage vehicles will drive through the enchanting hills of the Oltrepò pavese area, offering participants a wonderful opportunity to immerse themselves in the picturesque rural landscapes. The route will touch villages and places of great charm such as Torrazza Coste, Borgo Priolo, Calvignano, Montalto Pavese, Valle Scuropasso, Pometo, Volpara and Golferenzo.

The arrival in Golferenzo will be crowned by a convivial lunch at the characteristic ‘Olmo Napoleonico’ restaurant, where enthusiasts will be able to enjoy traditional local dishes, in a convivial atmosphere that celebrates not only historic vehicles, but also the Oltrepò‘s food and wine heritage.

The Giornata Nazionale del Veicolo d‘Epoca represents much more than just a rally: it is an opportunity to reflect on the cultural and technical value of historic Italian motoring. Our country‘s automotive heritage is a real treasure, which must be preserved and passed on to new generations. Events like this aim to involve young enthusiasts, offering them the chance to discover and fall in love with a tradition that has marked the history of Italian design and technology.
