«camminandoinoltrepo» accompanies us this time to discover a new and fascinating excursion. The route chosen is SENTIERI UNITI - 315, a 10.8-kilometre itinerary with an estimated duration of about 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Departure is from S. Giuletta, exactly from Via Martiri della Libertà, following the white and red CAI signs with the number 315. The route begins by climbing up towards Località Castello, with a stretch on asphalt limited to the town part and the deviation into Via Castello to reach Casa Andrea. From here starts the Sentiero Santuletta, a sheep-track that ends near the village cemetery.
On the right, we find the Church of S. Giuletta, characterised by its curious crenellated bell tower, a particular architectural element that immediately catches the eye. Continuing along the so-called ‘Strada del Paradiso’ (Paradise Road), we reach the top of the hill, where the castle, now converted into an 18th-century villa, stands.
Continuing along Via Castellane, the route leads to Cascina Struggia, where we turn left towards Cascina La Travaglina. Here, at the crossroads, we must keep to the right to take the vicinal road that runs alongside the Monte Zavo wood, Monte Campone, passing by the houses of Fraccia and Cà dei Ratti, until we reach the crossroads with Strada Isimbarda.
At this point, we continue left until we reach the crossroads of Località 5Strade, where signs lead us towards 45º Parallelo - Località Boffalora. The stretch on asphalt offers spectacular views of the castles of Pietra de Giorgi, Cigognola, Mornico Losana, Montalto Pavese and the tower of Cavigerra. The hills, covered with vineyards, alternate with views extending as far as the Alps and the Apennines, creating an evocative backdrop for the entire route.
Having passed Località Boffalora, we arrive at a special point: the 45th Parallel, an invisible but meaningful place. Exactly halfway between the North Pole and the Equator, this point represents an important geographical reference and offers the perfect opportunity for a contemplative stop.
After the stop, the trail continues to Località Costa Grossa, where signs indicate the way down to Lirio. The descent offers beautiful views of the Scuropasso Valley until we reach the village. Here, the Sentieri Uniti sign invites us to take a short tour of the village, concluding our hike.
This itinerary offers an immersive experience amidst nature, history and breathtaking scenery. Thanks to the ‘camminandoinoltrepo’ initiative, you can discover a part of the magnificent Oltrepò Pavese, an area full of surprises just waiting to be explored.
