The Oltrepò Pavese is an area rich in history, culture and natural beauty. This land, best known for its wine production, also offers a vast network of paths through breathtaking landscapes, ancient villages and lush vineyards. «camminandoinoltrepo» once again invites us to explore these hidden wonders.

This time, ‘camminandoinoltrepo’ takes us to discover the Terreni delle Ghiaie in the lands of the famous Buttafuoco wine. A hike of medium difficulty covering 11 kilometres, with an expected duration of around 2 hours and 20 minutes. The route has a mixed road, so care should be taken in case of mud.

Our journey begins in Stradella, a town that serves as the gateway to the Oltrepò Pavese. We start from via De Gasperi, heading towards via Ricanata, which we follow for about 300 metres until we find a path on the left. This is where our adventure begins, keeping to the right at the first fork.

The path leads us to Frazione Amistà, a small village surrounded by greenery. From here, we continue straight on for 140 metres, then take a path to the right that takes us to the ridge of the hill. The view from the summit is spectacular, with vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see.

Keeping to the more obvious track, we arrive on Provincial Road 45. We turn left towards Frazione Montebruciato, following the signs for Agriturismo Pellegrini. We cross the small hamlet of Frazione Solinga, continuing straight ahead and leaving the tarmac road to the left. We follow a cart track that descends steeply, passing first a red house on the left and then a small house on the right. When we catch a glimpse of the houses of Beria di Sopra on our left, we turn onto a less obvious path to the right that takes us to the top of a small hill.

Following the track, we descend to the right between the vineyards. At the end of the vineyard, we turn left and pass another small house, taking a path to the right that leads us onto the cart track at the bottom of the valley. We ascend this beautiful valley for 1.3 kilometres without deviating, skirting a small lake and arriving at the top of the climb at Canneto Pavese.

From Canneto Pavese, we turn right and cross the village. At the crossroads of Frazione Centro, we continue to the right until we reach Frazione Montebruciato. Here we turn right and return to Località Colombara, bending to the left and continuing to Casa Agati. We arrive at the square of the Torre Sacchetti church, turn left and, taking advantage of a couple of well-marked short cuts, descend towards Località Rile. From here, we ascend to Frazione Amistà and retrace the initial stretch in reverse, finally returning to Stradella.

This hike is not only a chance for physical activity, but also an opportunity to immerse ourselves in the beauty and culture of the Oltrepò Pavese. ‘camminandoinoltrepo’ continues to surprise us with itineraries that make us rediscover the authenticity of a unique territory. Happy walking to all!
