The social page ‘camminandoinoltrepo’, dedicated to promoting the paths of the Oltrepò Pavese, once again invites us to immerse ourselves in the beauty of this area with a new excursion in the municipalities of Prima Collina, Canneto Pavese and Monteveneroso. This 8 km route, lasting about 1 hour and 50 minutes, is a perfect opportunity to explore the nature and breathtaking views of the area. The paved road makes the itinerary practicable all year round, allowing hikers to enjoy the hills of vineyards and natural environments in any season.
The hike starts from Via Chiesa in Canneto Pavese, a quiet starting point that already anticipates the wonders that await us along the way. This walk is characterised by its pleasant and relaxing pace, ideal for those who want a walk without any particular difficulty. Leaving the renowned Bazzini restaurant to our right, we set off along the S.P. 45 (Via Roma), without ever leaving it. This road offers us picturesque views of the Malpaga castle tower and Montuè, providing our eyes with suggestive glimpses that accompany us on our walk. We pass the village of Fornace and, having reached Via Colombarone, turn left at the fork in the road towards Castana. We pass Casa Bazzini, Casa Cavagna, and at Casa Bagnoli at the fork we turn left again towards Monteveneroso. Continuing to a crossroads, we turn left and pass Casa Zambianchi, arriving at the hamlet of Monteveneroso, which we cross entirely. When we reach Via Costiolo, we follow the signpost for Stradella and upon reaching the Circolo Ricreativo headquarters, we stop for a visit to the monument dedicated to the vine-dresser of 1211. This stop allows us to reflect on local history and the importance of viticulture for this region. Continuing on, in Località Malaspina, we reach the Pozzo di Sant‘Antonio Abate, witness to many events linked to local noble families. On it is a copy of a bas-relief from 1511, the original of which was stolen in 1978. This historical testimony transports us back in time, allowing us to imagine the lives of the people who inhabited these places centuries ago. From the hamlet of Vigalone, we walk the entire length of the road and head towards Località Caccialupo. Here, having reached a crossroads with a view of the first houses of Canneto, we turn left again. We finally arrive at our starting point along Via Roma, thus concluding an excursion that has allowed us to appreciate not only the natural beauty of the Oltrepò Pavese, but also its rich history and culture.
The excursion proposed by ‘camminandoinoltrepo’ is a journey through nature and history, an opportunity to disconnect from daily routine and immerse oneself in the tranquillity of the Pavese hills. With its 8 km walk, this walk is accessible to all and offers unforgettable views of the Scuropasso and Versa Valleys. All that remains is to wear comfortable shoes, bring a good dose of curiosity and let yourself be guided by the paths of the Oltrepò Pavese. Happy walking to all!
