The dream of a cleaner, more honest and transparent world is realised by Luca Bonizzoni in the heart of the Oltrepò pavese in his farm, one of the most important organic beekeeping companies in Italy, and a testimony of love for the territory
In the Casteggio countryside, Luca Bonizzoni has been involved in beekeeping for over thirty years. Initially, this activity was not his initial dream, in fact he studied literature at the University of Milan, but then he changed course completely, moved to the countryside and began with great passion and infinite tenacity the activity that today makes him one of the most important beekeepers in Italy.
Passing through Casteggio it is possible to meet him with his thick white beard on his farm where everything is organic. Exactly as he stubbornly wanted to be in tune with his philosophy of a cleaner, more honest and transparent world. On his farm, this dream of his has been fully realised. There, everything is organic with pride for the entrepreneur and pride of place.
Luca Bonizzoni is a tireless beekeeper, always seeking to improve and experiment. Proof of this is his constant travelling, his moving far and wide in search of the best blooms. He can be said to live in symbiosis with his bees and the quality of his hive products proves it.
The area where he decided to set up his farm, the Oltrepò pavese, is particularly suited to the production of many varieties of honey and this is due to the climate in the Alps, the Pre-Alps and the lake environment. The area where he decided to set up his farm, the Oltrepò pavese, is particularly suited to the production of many varieties of honey and this is due to the climate in the Alps, the Pre-Alps and the lake environment. What the bees produce is something unique, Bonizzoni added: "Honey is literally stolen from the bees and has a characteristic that no other food product has, namely the ability to preserve itself, unlike milk, ham and other products.
His story has the power to give courage to all young entrepreneurs. As a boy, as he told us, ‘I didn‘t want to be a loser and I literally fell into this world, despite the fact that one of my fears was the bee sting, which I have obviously overcome today‘.
If we were in the mathematical field, we could say that Luca Bonizzoni is to bees as the territory is to the environment. The preservation of the latter passes through bees. Through pollination, bees perform a strategic function for the conservation of flora, contributing to the improvement and maintenance of biodiversity. A decrease in bees can, therefore, represent a major threat to the natural ecosystems in which they live.
In conclusion, the love for the environment and for bees demonstrated by Luca Bonizzoni should not only be appreciated but should be made our own in order to protect the Oltrepò ecosystem
