This church, which we will leave to our left, is a suggestive place that marks the beginning of our journey among the wonders of the Oltrepò.
The Itinerary
We start from the south-eastern end of the village, where the Church of Sant‘Andrea stands isolated, which we leave to our left. The route immediately takes us to the hamlets of Palazzo, Casa Cima and Cà di Giacomo. These small villages, with their characteristic dwellings and the tranquillity that surrounds them, will accompany us as far as the hamlet of Cassinassa.
At the Cassinassa crossroads, we turn right towards Santa Maria della Versa. This section of the route allows us to enjoy suggestive views of the surrounding valleys and appreciate the serenity of the landscape. Continuing to the second fork, we turn towards Quarti, passing through Località Tornura. Having arrived at Località Quarti, we continue in the direction of Broni, still downhill, until we reach Località Bosco Casella.
At Bosco Casella, at the crossroads, we turn left onto Provincial Road 162, which will take us uphill to Sannazzaro. During this climb, we can admire the surrounding nature and breathe in the clean air of the hills. Having reached the crossroads, we proceed towards Castana. We pass the church dedicated to San Nazzaro e Celso, a historic building that is said to be the oldest hillside church in the entire Oltrepò area. This place, rich in history, offers a moment of reflection and a break in our journey.
Continuing on, we come to Località Casa Nuova. Here, keeping to Provincial Road 45, we enter the municipal territory of Castana. We pass through the localities of Casa Cristina, Casa Barbieri, Costa and the hamlet of Cassinassa, before returning to our starting point. This loop allows us to thoroughly explore this beautiful area and enjoy a complete and immersive experience.
