The Region of Lombardy recently announced an important funding dedicated to mountain communities, allocating a total of one million euro. This fund is intended to support the mountain agricultural sector through the activation of calls for tenders aimed at promoting various development projects.
Funding Objectives
The regional funding will enable the individual mountain communities of the Oltrepò Pavese to activate specific calls for tenders to support various agricultural activities. The resources will mainly be allocated to
- Accommodation and renovation of farm buildings: This intervention aims to improve existing infrastructure, making it more functional and safe for local farmers. Modernisation of buildings is crucial to increase operational efficiency and ensure the longevity of farming activities.
- Purchase of new machinery and equipment: Investing in advanced technology is key to improving productivity and reducing operating costs. New machinery will enable farmers to work more efficiently, ensuring higher quality products and strengthening the competitiveness of mountain farms.

- Improving water harvesting systems: Sustainable water management is essential in mountain areas, where access to water can be limited. Interventions aimed at optimising water collection and use will contribute to more resilient and sustainable agricultural production.
Complementary Support for Local Development Projects
This funding is in addition to the recent EUR 17 million call for support for mountain farms and municipalities in disadvantaged areas. These joint initiatives demonstrate the Lombardy Region‘s commitment to promoting the development of the mountain agricultural sector, which is considered a fundamental pillar for land conservation and the cohesion of local communities.
