We embark on an enchanting adventure through the fascinating paths of the Oltrepò Pavese together with ‘camminandoinoltrepo‘. Today, we will immerse ourselves in the wonders of Canevino, a hidden jewel nestled in the rolling hills.
"camminandoinoltrepo" will once again accompany us to explore the secret paths that lead to the hidden treasures of this wonderful area. Today, our steps take us to a jewel set among the rolling hills: Canevino.
Nestled in the heart of breathtaking scenery, this village retains an atmosphere that has remained intact over time. Its cobbled lanes, stone houses and historical monuments capture the authentic essence of this land rich in tradition and charm.
This route is about 9 kilometres long and takes about two hours to walk, but it may take a little longer to fully enjoy the landscapes and points of interest along the way. Starting from Volpara, we will climb along Provincial Road 40, leaving behind the Temple of Moscato to embrace a climb that will reveal timeless views.
Following the signs for Nibbiano, we will immerse ourselves in a landscape dotted with beautifully restored farmhouses. The road, at first paved, will turn into a dirt and gravel cart track, taking us through the enchanting localities of Canova and Colombara.
The path will lead us in a succession of emotions, passing by the Agritur Chalè Do Milagro and finding ourselves back on the asphalt at Località Pianaversa. From here, a new ascent will gradually take us towards the enchanting Canevino.
We will enthusiastically climb the 133 steps of the staircase that evokes the route of the remains of St. Columbanus or follow the sign that leads to the statue of the Irish monk, both roads will reveal the extraordinary parish church and its panoramic view.
The return journey towards Caseo will offer us enchanting views as we skirt the Ristorante Paradiso, and when we reach the Provincial Road, we will take a path through vineyards and rustic cottages that will enchant our senses for 800 metres, leading us to the fork towards the bridge over the Versa stream.
After crossing the bridge, the road will lead us towards Colombara, and from there, we will follow Provincial Road 40, which will take us back to our starting point, thus ending an excursion rich in history, nature and breathtaking views.
In addition to the beauty of Canevino, I highly recommend including Volpara in your visit, a place with an enchanting atmosphere that will further enrich this Oltrepò Pavese adventure.
This excursion promises to be a journey through history and nature, an opportunity to be enchanted by the hidden treasures of this fascinating region. Enjoy your walk to discover Canevino and its timeless treasures!
