The 2017 Pinot Noir ‘La Quercia‘, produced by the La Casaia winery, combines harmoniously with succulent dishes of this season, an alliance between winemaking mastery and culinary tradition that creates a unique sensory experience.

At this time of year, when the leaves take on warm hues and the coolness of autumn can be felt in the air, there is a unique atmosphere that envelops the pleasure of sitting down to a meal. It is the perfect time to explore the surprising pairings between traditional dishes and the fine wines of the Oltrepò Pavese. Today, we would like to introduce an extraordinary wine from the La Casaia winery: Pino Nero ‘La Quercia‘ 2017. This wine, with its bold and complex personality, is an ideal partner for a variety of succulent dishes that characterise these months.

Among the aromas that dance in the glass of Pinot Noir ‘La Quercia‘ 2017, suggestive notes of underbrush, black cherry and cherry emerge, enveloped in a depth that invites further exploration. In the mouth, the elegance of the grape variety manifests itself through a well-defined minerality, while a velvety tannin amplifies the persistence of the aromas. This wine, the result of a careful selection of Pinot Noir grapes and meticulous vinification, tells the story of the Lombardy lands, in particular the Oltrepò Pavese, where the vineyard is located in the municipality of Santa Giuletta, at 250 metres above sea level, with a sun exposure that lends character and complexity to the grapes.

The careful harvesting of the grapes by hand and the subsequent vinification, which includes a long maceration of the skins for 14-16 days at controlled temperatures, are an integral part of the process that gives life to this high quality wine. The low guyot training of the vines, the clay-loamy soil and the careful, plant-friendly production method are key elements that give ‘La Quercia‘ 2017 Pinot Noir its distinctive personality.

After ageing for 8-10 months in stainless steel tanks, the wine rests in the bottle for an additional period before being marketed, a period that allows the complexity and richness of this wine to be fully expressed. The 2017 Pinot Noir "La Quercia", with its authentic and enveloping expression, is an invitation to explore the flavours and traditions of this season, creating an unforgettable gastronomic experience when paired with robust dishes such as pappardelle with wild boar ragout, beef stew with polenta and Angus tagliata with porcini mushrooms.
