In this embrace between Croatina and Barbera, the vineyards become poetry and the vines verses the story of a generous and passionate land.
Among the hills of the Oltrepò Pavese, Croatina and Barbera stand out as the undisputed protagonists of a wine tale that reveals itself between tradition and passion. Croatina, proud holder of 70% of the national production, manifests itself with great vivacity and sparkle. In the vineyards of Rovescala, Canneto, Cigognola and other hillside jewels, the Croatina vine gives life to wines with an imposing structure, an intense ruby red colour and an enveloping perfume of red fruits.
Alongside it, Barbera, originally from Monferrato, finds its ideal terroir here. The hills of the Oltrepò Pavese offer it a propitious environment, and Barbera proves to be a perfect companion for meat dishes and mature cheeses.
From these two protagonists come three unique wines that enchant the palate. First of all Buttafuoco, as fiery as the name it bears, is born from the passionate union of Barbera and Croatina, enhanced by the addition of Uva Rara and/or Ughetta di Canneto. With its violet hues, this full-bodied and robust wine becomes the perfect alter ego for red meats and game.
Oltrepò Pavese Rosso, on the other hand, is mainly composed of Barbera (65%) and Croatina (25%), enriched with a percentage of Pinot Nero, Uva Rara and Ughetta. Its intense ruby colour, vinous bouquet and full, slightly tannic flavour make it the ideal companion for robust dishes such as risotto with ossobuco, cassoeula and boiled meats.
Finally, Sangue di Giuda emerges as a rare red dessert wine, still or sparkling, made from an intriguing blend of Croatina, Barbera, Uva Rara, Ughetta and/or Pinot Nero. An ideal companion for tarts, biscuits and fruit, or as a fresh aperitif.
This triptych of wines, each with its own distinctive personality, is a celebration of the oenological art and history that permeates the lands of the Oltrepò Pavese. A sensory journey the passion and authenticity of an extraordinary wine territory.
