In an enchanted corner of Oltrepò Pavese, the Bianchi family has made their dream grow: ‘Cascina Giulia‘. Between land and heart, their story is a symphony of passion and dedication.
Attilio Bianchi and his family have a history of connection with the Oltrepò Pavese that has lasted over twenty years. From June to October each year, they would move to the quiet hut located in Pian dell‘Armà to take care of their animals and allow them to graze in the green expanses of this fascinating territory. This ritual characterised their lives until 2019.
That year marked a turning point in the lives of Mr Attilio, his wife Laura and their beloved daughter Giulia. They decided to take an important step and move permanently to Fego, a place that had won their hearts over the years. Here, amidst the hills of the Oltrepò Pavese, they set up ‘Cascina Giulia‘, a small farm dedicated to agricultural traditions and local excellence.
One of the first moves was the purchase of a piece of land, where they began to cultivate and breed with passion. This is how they acquired their first Varzese cattle, bred in a semi-wild state, where they can graze freely. The result of this loving commitment is high quality milk, which is processed into alpine delicacies with authentic flavours.
But the passion of Mr Attilio and his family does not stop there. On land that is not used for grazing, they cultivate ‘Zafferano Oltrepò Pavese‘, a prized product that finds fertile ground in these lands. Together with other farmers with the same passion for tradition and the territory, they set up the Associazione Zafferano Oltrepò Pavese with the important aim of promoting local excellence and guaranteeing the necessary authenticity.
The spearheads of ‘Cascina Giulia‘s‘ production are: Zafferano Oltrepò Pavese, the ancient Staffora cheese and Feio, a saffron-flavoured cheese stuffed into pig gut. Products of excellence that tell the story of these hills through their extraordinary taste
Through commitment and dedication, Mr. Attilio and his family have made ‘Cascina Giulia‘ an important oasis of authenticity and passion in the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese, preserving local traditions and contributing to the sustainable growth of the community.
