FAI Day at Liceo Grattoni: A Journey through History and Science

On Saturday, February 22, 2025, Liceo Classico Grattoni will open its doors to the public for FAI Day, offering a unique opportunity to explore its history and cultural heritage. The initiative, promoted by the “I Severini” Committee and supported by the Italian National Trust (FAI), aims to enhance the historic building that has housed the school since 1933, located on Via Don Minzoni in Voghera. The event represents an important occasion to raise awareness in the community about the importance of preserving this landmark, already listed among FAI’s “Places of the Heart” and backed by over 2,800 votes.

During the visit, participants will have the opportunity to explore the school’s elegant halls, admire its neoclassical architecture, and discover the extraordinary scientific and naturalistic collection preserved inside. This collection, consisting of over 10,000 specimens, including animals, minerals, botanical and anatomical models, as well as historical scientific instruments, showcases the school’s long tradition in research and scientific education. Originating in the first half of the 19th century and enriched over time through donations, this collection represents a true treasure for the city of Voghera.

The event will feature free guided tours, conducted by students from class 3Ds of IIS “Galilei”, under the supervision of Professor Laura Bertorelli and Simona Guioli, director of the Voghera Museum of Natural Sciences. Thanks to their guidance, visitors will immerse themselves in the school’s history and appreciate the educational and cultural value of the exhibited materials.

In the afternoon, innovation takes center stage with a free CoderDojo workshop, designed for children aged 8 to 14. The session will provide an introduction to coding and artificial intelligence, with interactive activities aimed at engaging young minds with the world of technology and programming.
