29 Years of Historical Buttafuoco: Celebration and Masterclass in Canneto Pavese

The Buttafuoco Storico celebrates 29 years of excellence with a conference and a series of unmissable events in Canneto Pavese, the heart of the Oltrepò Pavese, on March 1, 2025. This special occasion offers an opportunity to delve into the history, evolution, and future of this prestigious DOC wine.

The conference, scheduled for Saturday, March 1 at 10:30 AM, will take place at the headquarters of the Buttafuoco Storico Club and will feature prominent figures from the wine industry and various institutions. Among the speakers:

• Massimo Piovani – President of the Buttafuoco Storico Club
• Riccardo Binda – Director of the Consortium for the Protection of Oltrepò Pavese Wines
• Giovanni Merlino – Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Pavia, Mantua, and Cremona
• Fabiano Giorgi – President of the Quality Wine District of Oltrepò Pavese
• Senator Gian Marco Centinaio – Vice President of the Senate

Moderating the discussion will be Ermanno Bidone, a journalist from Milano Pavia TV. The conference will focus on the development strategies for Buttafuoco Storico, the role of the Protection Consortium, the new challenges faced by the Chamber of Commerce, and the importance of Buttafuoco as a symbolic wine of the Oltrepò Pavese.

The weekend will continue with three unmissable masterclasses, organized with the support of AIS Pavia, FISAR Pavia, and ONAV Pavia—three of the main associations of sommeliers and wine tasters.

  A masterclass by FISAR Pavia, focusing on historical vineyards and their different vintages of Buttafuoco Storico.
• Sunday, March 2, at 10:30 AM – “Vertical Tasting of Consortium Magnum“:
  ONAV Pavia will lead a vertical tasting featuring different vintages of Buttafuoco Storico in magnum format.
• Sunday, March 2, at 5:00 PM – “Gravel, Arenaries, and Clays”:
  AIS Pavia will analyze the impact of the soils of Sperone di Stradella (gravel, arenaries, and clays) on the characteristics of Buttafuoco Storico.
