Route Details: A Walk for Everyone
The walk follows a paved road, making it suitable for all seasons. This route is particularly popular among Broni residents and serves as an excellent starting point for those wishing to explore the scenic Scuropasso Valley.
Starting Point and Access
- Start and finish point: Via Vallescuropasso.
- How to reach the starting point: From Piazza Garibaldi, continue on Via Cattaneo for 50 meters, then turn right onto Via Mazzini. At the roundabout, go straight on Via Regione Gioiello; before the next roundabout, turn left onto Via Vallescuropasso.
Hiking Itinerary
The route begins heading south. After the first bend, the view opens up to the Scuropasso Valley, which near Broni stretches out until it blends with the plains. Along the way, we pass through the hamlets of Valle Fondo, Valle Mezzo, and Valle Cima, enjoying spectacular views ranging from the spur of Canneto to the fortress of Cigognola.
Reaching Valle Cima, we encounter the Scuropasso stream, which flows over 20 kilometers towards the Po River. Continuing, we turn left onto Provincial Road 198, pass the church, and take the “Panizza” climb on the right towards Cigognola. This ascent offers a pause from the walk’s rhythm, allowing us to admire the stunning surrounding hills.
We arrive at the hamlet of Regondè, where we turn left and then right onto Via U. Giorgi. Skirting the walls of the castle and the parish church, we reach the main square of Cigognola. From here, a short walk leads us to the Belvedere, a charming hilltop spot among horse chestnut and pine trees, offering breathtaking panoramic views.
The Return: A Scenic Descent
The return is a pleasant descent. From the main square, we take Strada del Pozzetto until we reach Provincial Road 46. Turning left, we descend to the “Vasca”. At the Terrepadane warehouse, we turn right onto Strada dei Marinoni, continuing until we reach the Strada per Zavatarello. Here, we turn left to return to Broni. Finally, upon reaching Cantina Terre d’Oltrepò, we take Via Primavera on the right to complete the itinerary.
